Monitoring of Four Refigeration Units for Odours and VOC's

Gladstone, Queensland

EGC conducted detailed investigation to determine the source of detectable odours in four large refrigeration units having a potential impact on health of the workers.  The investigation  involved determination of potential contaminants, collection of air samples into SUMMA canisters on site, the analysis of samples for the determined components and interpretation of results using National Occupational Health and Safety Commission, and Exposure Standards for Atmospheric Contaminants in the Occupational Environment (1995).

Findings of the EGC investigation determined leak of refrigerants, which was the reason for bad odour. The EGC report assisted the client in scheduling a detailed regular maintenance, which improved the working environment and protected health of the workers.

Level of Involvement: Principal Consultant, air quality sampling and interpretation followed by reporting on leak detection and advice
